Public Service Truck Renting—located in Long Island City, New York—provides truck leasing, rentals, fleet maintenance, and administrative services. Charles Sommer, President of Public Service Truck Renting, learned about the Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program (CTP) from a colleague in the transportation industry and subsequently attended an event hosted by the CTP in the Bronx. Following the event, Public Service Truck Renting applied to the CTP to take advantage of the rebate funds and upgrade their fleet with 2010 EPA emission compliant vehicles. Public Service Truck Renting applied to the CTP on behalf of their customer, Jetro Cash & Carry, a wholesale food and culinary equipment supplier for businesses and nonprofit organizations with locations in New York including the Bronx.

Public Service Truck Renting purchased a 2013 Hino and is currently applying to the program a second time. According to Mr. Sommer, “Applying for the incentive funding from the CTP makes economic sense for our company. Our customer is happy with his fuel efficient, lower emission trucks and the rebate funds enable us to pass down the savings to our leasee.”

“The application process is easier than I had anticipated. The CTP Team has been a pleasure to work with because they are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive,” says Mr. Sommer.  “Public Service Truck Renting is glad to participate in the Hunts Point CTP because it allows us to replace older trucks that have been experiencing maintenance issues with new equipment purchased at a lower cost”.

With no hesitation, Mr. Sommer says, “I absolutely recommend this program to other fleets because it is a win-win for all parties—the truck dealer, who sells more trucks, the customer who gets new trucks at a reduced rate, and the leasing company who benefits by having new equipment on the road. Of course the environment and our community are also winners as we all get to breathe cleaner air.”
